What is the main design and what does it contain?

The main design is a set of mutually harmonised designs providing the technical solution of the building and demonstrating the fulfilment of the essential requirements for the building as well as other prescribed and specified requirements and conditions.

Depending on the type of building or works, the main design contains:

  • the architectural design
  • the civil engineering design – structural design
  • the civil engineering design – water supply and drainage design
  • the electrical engineering design
  • the mechanical engineering design – heating/cooling.

Depending on the type of building or works, if prescribed by a special law or if necessary, the preparation of the main design, i.e. of the individual designs it contains, is preceded by the preparation of:

  • a landscape study
  • a geomechanical study
  • a traffic study
  • a technical-technological solution study
  • an occupational safety study
  • a noise protection study
  • a conservation study
  • other necessary studies.
